New Jersey Attorney For Employees

Gloucester County Employment Lawyers

Guiding New Jersey clients through employment law matters

Both state and federal laws protect workers from employment discrimination based on age, race, disability, and a number of other bases. These laws provide workers with important rights but can also allow some workers to make spurious claims against innocent and well-meaning employers. Whether you are an employee facing discrimination or harassment at work or an employer facing allegations of discriminatory conduct, an employment attorney at Richardson Employment & Civil Rights Law, LLC can be an important ally. Our New Jersey employment lawyers focus their practice specifically on employment law issues. With over 60 years of combined experience in the practice of law, our staff of three attorneys represents both workers and management in employment disputes throughout New Jersey.

State and federal employment laws

Employment law is an especially difficult, fast-developing area of law that requires New Jersey discrimination lawyers to maintain up-to-date knowledge of a variety of state and federal statutes. In the average year, for example, over 200 published and unpublished cases involve New Jersey’s Law Against Discrimination. Literally thousands of cases nationwide involve federal employment statutes. These cases can often involve large sums of money, including back pay, penalties, and other damages. New Jersey’s Law Against Discrimination (LAD) forbids harassment or discrimination based on the following:

race, creed, color, national origin, nationality, ancestry, age, sex (including pregnancy), familial status, marital status, domestic partnership status, affectional or sexual orientation, atypical hereditary cellular or blood trait, genetic information, liability for military service, and mental or physical disability, perceived disability, and AIDS and HIV status.

The LAD prohibits discrimination in employment, housing, places of public accommodation, credit, and business contracts. The Conscientious Employee Protection Act (also known as the Whistleblower Act) prohibits retaliation against an employee who has spoken out against unlawful or unethical conduct in the workplace. Most of our cases involve claims under either the Law Against Discrimination or the Whistleblower Act. However, our New Jersey sexual harassment attorneys also handle cases arising from both state and federal laws discrimination and wage and hour laws as well as disciplinary actions against public employees:

  • Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964
  • Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
  • Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
  • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA)
  • New Jersey Family Leave Act
  • New Jersey Minimum Wage Law
  • New Jersey Wage and Hour Act
  • Equal Pay Law for New Jersey
  • Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organization (RICO) Act
